Il mondo del Dark Web si muove seguendo i nostri passi, ma in maniera silenziosa e celata, mostrando di sé una minuscola parte. Al suo interno si diramano azioni illegali, così come le vendite e i video occulti. Per acquistare una carta di credito, per esempio, possono bastare anche piccole somme (11 centesimi o qualche dollaro per ottenere un intero pacchetto di dati personali). Ma ai ricercatori di Comparitech non sfugge nulla e così hanno analizzato gli annunci di oltre 40 marketplace del dark web, creando un vero e proprio listino di identità rubate, carte di credito e account Paypal.
Carte di credito: un mondo sotterraneo davvero pericoloso
I costi delle carte di credito variano: si va dagli 11 centesimo fino ai 986 dollari. Tutto dipende dalla qualità delle informazioni: con pochi centesimi si ottiene il numero di carta. Il prezzo muta nel momento in cui si aggiungono nome, codice postale, data di scadenza. Scende, invece, se i dati sono acquistati in pacchetti o addirittura in blocchi di decine o centinaia. Da non sottovalutare però il fattore geografico.
Negli Stati Uniti (conosciuti per le carte rubate) bastano 1,50 dollari e in Gran Bretagna 2,50. In Cina si sale a 3 dollari, in Giappone e Australia a 7. L’Europa però le batte tutte: il costo raggiunge gli 8 dollari.
I costi mutano notevolmente nel momento in cui si volesse acquistare un account Paypal hackerato: in tal caso si va dai 5 ai 1767 dollari. Ciò che differenzia quest’ultimo dalle carte di credito potrebbe essere il ritorno dell’investimento. Difatti il saldo contabile mediano di una carta è 24 volte il prezzo d’acquisto dei suoi dati nel dark web.
